No. All HerShift workers are independent contractors. That means you are self-employed and responsible for your own tax filings and benefits. We simply connect you to clients who need your services

Absolutely! One of the best parts of working with HerShift is flexibility. You can accept shifts that fit your lifestyle, schedule, and comfort level.

We understand emergencies happen. Please notify HerShift Staffing as soon as possible so we can find a replacement and maintain a great relationship with our clients. We are a 24/7 Staffing Agency so we are always here to help. We do require 24hr notice for PSW/ RN/ RPN and any Healthcare placement. These clients rely on us to provide personal care so time off for these clients takes priority.

Contractors are typically paid weekly or biweekly, depending on the client and assignment. Details for each contract will be provided before you start the shift.

Payments are made via direct deposit. You’ll receive an electronic pay summary for your records.

Because you’re an independent contractor, you’ll receive a payment statement, not a traditional pay stub. It will include the hours worked, rate of pay, and total amount paid for your services.

No. As an independent contractor, HerShift does not deduct taxes, CPP, or EI. You’re responsible for reporting and paying any applicable income taxes to the CRA.

Independent contractors will receive a T4A form if their total yearly earnings meet CRA reporting thresholds. Keep accurate records of your income and expenses to make tax season easier!

We recommend setting aside a portion of each payment for taxes. Consider working with an accountant or tax professional familiar with self-employment income to help with deductions and filings.

You’ll need valid photo ID, proof of certifications (e.g., PSW, CPR, CPI, etc.), and any required background checks depending on the position. Once verified, you can start picking up shifts right away! All Healthcare staff are required to have all up-to-date vaccinations as well all medical (TB 2-step) up-to-date before being able to pick up any assignments.

Yes! We offer online and in-person training opportunities to help you grow your skills, stay compliant, and deliver excellent service.
